Drifting, shifting and ceaseless change.

The Knolls, River Deben.

A warm sense of yearning is apparent for a hamlet nestled nearby.

Here you find a river named, Deben. The mouth opens with a relentless tidal cycle. Infused sediment and shingle flows down the coastline from the north. Churning and propelled outwards to open sea on the rivers ebb.

Islands are formed, long stretching shingle banks are a construct of the outgoing tidal wash. With time, these assembled formations are only temporary. Subtle modifications in size, position and length take place.

This beloved natural space encourages a personal pursuit towards reduction and simplified compositions. To explore a place visually where space, colour and time become lyrically metaphysical.
